Cop car blaze: police offer $25k reward

CCTV captured the moment two arsonists set a cop car alight in the WA town of Mandurah. And now police are offering a massive reward for information.

West Australian Police are offering up to $25,000 for information relating to two people who set alight a police vehicle on Friday.

The vehicle was parked in front of a car dealership on Anstruther Road in the coastal city of Mandurah, south of Perth.

CCTV captured two people approaching the dealership on foot around 4.30am.

Video showed them pour accelerant over the vehicle before igniting it with a butane torch.

Within seconds the car burst into a cloud of orange flames and the offenders fled the scene.

It is believed one of the offenders may have suffered burns to their face and arms.

The police vehicle was damaged beyond repair.

Rewards of up to $25,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of one of the perpetrators.

Anyone who has mobile phone or dashcam vision of the area between 4am and 5am is being urged to call Crime Stoppers.
