AGIT baton passes as new chair is appointed

Wendy Oldham, CEO of gas pipeline company SEA Gas, has been appointed as the new Chair of the Australian Gas Industry Trust (AGIT).

The appointment follows the retirement of Dr Graeme Bethune from the AGIT Board, having joined it initially in 2008 and becoming Chair in 2016.

The Australian Gas Association established the first iteration of what has since become known as AGIT in 1999. The goal of the trust fund was to pursue educational activities in collaboration with the wider Australian gas industry.

AGIT now maintains the objectives of providing funding for education, professional development and research within the gas industry while also being the conduit between the Australian gas industry and the International Gas Union.

The trust is governed by representative of all sectors of the Australian gas industry from upstream exploration and production to gas transmission pipelines to gas networks and appliances.

Current research projects being funded by AGIT include Gas Vision 2050, the Future Fuels CRC and further research on household utilisation of gas.

AGIT released a warm welcome to Oldham in a social media post, along with a sincere thanks to the many years of hard work and tireless efforts Bethune put into AGIT, the Board and IGU.
